First Visit
What happens at my first chiropractic appointment?
Your first visit starts with a conversation about your symptoms, health history and goals. Next, Dr. Rigby performs a hands-on exam that may include posture, movement, reflex and strength testing. We then explain what we found and recommend a plan. If appropriate and you are comfortable, treatment may begin the same day. See our full what to expect guide.
How long is the first visit?
Plan on about 60 minutes. That gives us time for a thorough consultation, exam and explanation of your results without rushing. Follow-up visits are typically much shorter, often 15 to 30 minutes depending on your care plan.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you plan to use it, a list of medications and any recent X-rays or MRI reports. Completing your new patient forms online ahead of time saves time. Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move freely.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
Most patients do not need a referral. Some insurance plans, especially certain HMOs, require one for coverage. When we verify your benefits, we will let you know if your plan requires a referral.
Chiropractic Care
Is chiropractic care safe?
For most people, chiropractic care is a safe, conservative option when performed by a licensed chiropractor after a proper exam. Some people feel mild soreness for a day or two afterward. We screen every patient for conditions that call for a different approach and adjust our techniques for age, comfort and health history.
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Adjustments are usually not painful. Many people feel immediate relief or a sense of looseness. You may hear a popping sound, which is simply gas releasing from the joint. If you prefer not to be adjusted manually, we offer gentle, low-force techniques and instrument-based options.
How many chiropractic visits will I need?
It depends on your condition, how long you have had it, your age and your goals. Some people improve in a few visits, while longer-standing problems may need several weeks of care. We give you a recommended plan after your exam and re-check your progress regularly so you always know where you stand.
Do I have to keep going to the chiropractor forever?
No. Once your symptoms improve and your goals are met, the choice to continue is yours. Some patients choose periodic wellness visits to help maintain their progress, but that is never required. Our goal is to help you feel better and give you tools to stay that way.
Neuropathy
What is peripheral neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy is damage or dysfunction of the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, most often in the feet and hands. It can cause numbness, tingling, burning, sharp pain or balance problems. Diabetes is one of the most common causes, but it can also follow chemotherapy, injury, vitamin deficiencies or other conditions.
Can neuropathy be treated without medication?
Many patients explore drug-free options to support nerve function, improve circulation and help with balance. Our approach combines evaluation with therapies designed to support the nerves and surrounding tissues, plus lifestyle guidance. Results vary depending on how much nerve damage is present, so we start with a thorough assessment and set realistic expectations.
How do I know if my neuropathy can be helped?
The best way to find out is a nerve-focused evaluation. We look at your symptoms, sensation, balance and circulation to understand how far the condition has progressed. Earlier care generally offers more opportunity for improvement. If your case is not a good fit, we will tell you honestly and help you find other options.
Insurance & Payment
Does insurance cover chiropractic care?
Many health plans cover chiropractic care for a specific injury or condition, though deductibles, copays and visit limits vary. Our team can verify your benefits before your first visit. Learn more on our insurance and pricing page.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes, in most cases. Chiropractic care is generally an eligible expense for Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts. You can pay with your HSA or FSA card at checkout, and we can provide itemized receipts if needed.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer in-house payment plans, prepaid care packages and third-party financing for qualified patients. We review all costs with you before care begins so you can choose the option that fits your budget.
